Delicious Biscuits

Cast iron cooking is as popular now as it was centuries ago. As in the past, today’s cooks have discovered that cast iron skillets, griddles, pots, pans, Dutch ovens and other types of cast iron cookware  are capable of producing an amazing array of delicious, home cooked meals.  We have collected hundreds of recipes over the years and we hope you will use them to create some great cast iron cooking for your family and friends!

Biscuits are a very tasty food. They are easy to make and they go with nearly anything. Biscuits are great with honey butter and also can be topped off with sausage gravy.

Cooking Instructions:

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
*Makes about 12 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Pinch of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable shortening
  • 2/3 cup of milk

Cooking Steps:

A) Preheat to 450 degrees
B) Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
C) Gradually add the shortening, and milk. The dough should not stick, and should be soft.
D) Roll the dough in a floured board momentarily. Roll into ½ thick pieces. Cut with a floured cutter.
E) Spray your cast-iron griddle and cook for 12 minutes..
