  
Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

the past, today’s cooks have discovered that cast iron skillets, griddles, pots, pans, Dutch ovens and other
types of cast iron cookware are capable of producing an amazing array of delicious, home cooked

Buttermilk adds the majority of the flavor to biscuits and makes for lighter,
fluffier biscuits than milk.
Cooking
Instructions:
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
*Makes about 13 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups
of all purpose flour
- ½
teaspoon of salt
- 1
teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 4
tablespoons of vegetable shortening
- 1 cup
of buttermilk
Cooking Steps:
A) Preheat to 450 degrees
B) Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder in a bowl. Slowly put the shortening in by
hand, and then mix in the buttermilk until well mixed.
C) Roll the dough in a floured board momentarily. Roll into ½ thick pieces. Cut with a floured cutter
D) Spray your cast-iron griddle and put the
dough in. Cook for 12 minutes until golden brown.
