  
Simple Potatoes and Onions
Cast iron cooking is as popular now as it was centuries ago. As in
the past, today’s cooks have discovered that cast iron skillets, griddles, pots, pans, Dutch ovens and other
types of cast iron cookware are capable of producing an amazing array of delicious, home cooked

This recipe has similar ingredients to skillet fried potatoes and goes well with roasted chicken or
beef. Cheese also adds a little extra flavor.
Cooking Instructions:
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 hour and 15 minutes *Makes about 9 servings
Ingredients:
- 5
pounds of sliced potatoes
- 2
pounds of sliced onions
- Salt
and pepper
- 1
stick of butter cut into ten pieces
- 10
ounces of grated cheese
Cooking Steps:
A) Cover your cast-iron Dutch-oven with cooking spray.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
B) Put a layer of the potato slices and onion slices in the Dutch oven after sprinkling each with salt and pepper.
C) Repeat until the onions and potatoes are used up. Put the butter on the top. Bake for an hour after
covering.
D) Cook for 15 minutes, uncovered. Check for tenderness with a fork. Sprinkle cheese on if you would
like.
