Cast iron cooking is as popular now as it was centuries ago. As in
the past, today’s cooks have discovered that cast iron skillets, griddles, pots, pans, Dutch ovens and other
types of cast iron cookware are capable of producing an amazing array of delicious, home cooked
meals. We have collected hundreds of recipes over the years and we hope you will use them to create
some great cast iron cooking for your family and

This finger food is absolutely irresistible! A tip for when
baking? Put some cooking spray and cornmeal into the pan, it will make it easier for the bread to come
out.
Cooking Instructions:

time: 15-20 minutes
*Makes about 14 servings (sticks)
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon bacon drippings
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup white, self rising cornmeal mix
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
Cooking Steps:
A) Set oven to 450 degrees to preheat. Take out your
cast iron pans and thoroughly grease (bacon juice) then put into the oven as it heats up.
Then in a sauce pan on the stove, warm the vegetable oil.
B) Using a mixing bowl and a large spoon or whisk, combine the cornmeal mix, flour, sugar, egg, and
buttermilk. Make sure to blend well! Then carefully pour the hot vegetable oil into the mix.
C) With your oven mitts, cautiously remove the cast iron pan from the oven, dash some cornmeal into it and
then fill with batter. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Be careful when removing from the oven, serve and
enjoy!
